There are many myths around yachting and the yachting lifestyle. Well, let's dispel the main ones and explain why these are nothing more than stereotypes.
Yachting is an elite hobby for the rich
This is probably the biggest myth that hovers around yachting. And it is easy to understand where its origins are, because this idea is very common in popular culture. Wherever you look, in the same films, almost always the passenger of the yacht is a rich businessman, agent “007” or glamorous guys of different ages. As practice shows, these stereotypes have little in common with reality.
The situation with yachting is in many ways similar to the hotel business. In the world of hotels, there are many classes and levels of service, luxury and hotel rooms themselves. At the same time, almost everyone can afford a hotel room.

Yes, renting an ordinary charter yacht is unlikely to be comparable to staying in a hotel. But if you use the simplest arithmetic, it often turns out that the cost of renting for one person will be cheaper than the same weekly room reservation.
In any case, it all depends on the circumstances of the lease, the number of guests and crew, the condition of the boat. We can only say unequivocally that the elitism of rest on board a sailing or motor yacht is seriously exaggerated.
Seasickness is a faithful companion of any cruise.
To be honest, many people have the fear of seasickness and the fact that after one time it will not pass and become a constant companion. This fear is especially common among beginner yachtsmen or people for whom yachting is not something common.

Yes, it is impossible to completely and completely exclude the possibility of seasickness, alas. Even among experienced skippers and sailors, occasional mishaps happen, although more often this happens during long and really difficult sea crossings.
However, the vast majority of people will not experience serious problems while cruising in the Adriatic or elsewhere in the Mediterranean. By the way, parents often worry that their children will be more prone to seasickness. Surprisingly, it is the children who just endure it an order of magnitude better than adults.
You should wait longer and choose the best boat for your cruise!
Error, fatal error. Hoping to get the best boat for the least money at the end of the season, many people miss their chance to relax on a yacht. Moreover, by the end of the season, prices will soar even higher, and you are unlikely to find better boats.

The bottom line is that the initial number of boats for charter and cruises is quite limited. In popular destinations, yachts sell like hot cakes. The longer a person waits to get the boat they want, the less likely they are to get it.
To understand the situation, all options for the summer in the Adriatic are already sold out in May. This is not a statement of fact, there are exceptions. But in the case of yachts, it is better to prepare in advance and book everything in time.
Children and yachting are incompatible concepts
We often hear the following: “You know, we have small children. It is unlikely that a vacation on a yacht will suit us.” And this is another common myth. Often it is children who like to cut through the waves much more than adults. Children better adapt to new conditions (including seasickness), learn faster and get used to yachts.

And we know what we are talking about, because many of our children and the children of our clients have been sailing since childhood. Holidays on a yacht are almost always new experiences, wonderful memories and just an opportunity to have fun and with health benefits to spend time with children and family. Plus, teamwork will bring you closer to your child, and the child will have warm memories of leisure time with his mom and dad.
There is little space for recreation and life on board
Indeed, if you are the owner of a two- or three-story country house, then any yacht, except for a superyacht, may seem a little cramped to you. But what you definitely shouldn't expect is a gloomy, claustrophobic dungeon. On an average sailing yacht, in addition to a few full-fledged cabins, you will find a salon with a kitchen and full-fledged bathrooms with a shower.

Naturally, it all depends on the type of boat. But most cruisers are designed for long stays on board and are designed accordingly. In addition, there will hardly be many people below deck if the weather is good and sunny.
Someone will rest on the bow and sunbathe, someone will be on the transom bathing platform, someone will sit on the cockpit. So rather it is worth thinking about a sufficient deck size.
