A new line of water pumps, cooperation between engine giants, Hong Kong's refusal to support sanctions, and Steve Kozloff presents a new concept - the latest news from the world of yachting with Interparus!
New range of EWP water pumps from Davies Craig
Davies Craig develops and manufactures specialized pumps. The company recently introduced the latest line of DC powered water pumps. The series is designed for use on yachts and marine vessels.
Davies Craig pumps are renowned for their high flow rates and low power consumption. The latest EWP pump is the pinnacle of Davies Craig's design and manufacturing development to date. The company's engineers applied all their knowledge of fluid dynamics, physics and navigation to create this pump.
EWP is the optimal solution in terms of efficiency and cost, according to the company. The pump can be controlled using a digital controller, which will help you choose the flow rate of water depending on the selected temperature.
Davies Craig EWP pumps are available in five capacities. The largest and most powerful one provides a maximum capacity of 9000 l/h. They are available in 12V and 24V versions.
Enevate and Sealence join forces to create powerful new engines
Just recently we wrote about new type of engines from Sealence. The company continues to take significant steps towards truly sustainable yachting. Sealence has teamed up with Enevate to build engines together.
Enevate is a California-based manufacturer of fast-charging batteries for electric vehicles. Together they signed a Memorandum of Mutual Assistance in cooperation in the development of a high-power battery cell for new jet boat engines.
As we reported earlier, Sealence has developed the DeepSpeed electric propulsion system. It is a reactive electric drive for boats on clean electricity. Recall that DeepSpeed is capable of developing power from 250 hp. up to 1,300 hp This setup can be used on both tenders and large yachts.
The DeepSpeed system from Sealence is demanding on battery power. Therefore, cooperation with Enevate came in handy. As Sealence engineers found, the DeepSpeed setup is ideal for batteries similar to those used in electric vehicles. Californians also have experience in creating powerful batteries for electric cars. Among the distinguishing features of Enevate batteries, experts note:
- relatively small dimensions with output power;
- long service life;
- “extremely fast charging” capability.
Engineers from both companies will work together. To begin with, pilot tests will be conducted to demonstrate key performance indicators of the battery. If all goes well, DeepSpeed systems will soon be equipped with Enevate batteries.
Hong Kong refuses to take action on sanctioned yachts
The epic with the sanctions yachts continues. This time, the Hong Kong authorities announced that they would not interfere in any way with the presence of yachts of Russian billionaires in their ports.
Recall that on last week, the US government warned Hong Kong that Russian oligarchs can use their ports as a hideout and evade sanctions. The US urged Hong Kong not to pander to sponsors of terrorism and to enforce the sanctions. Now the Hong Kong authorities have given their expected response.
We are talking about a superyacht worth 521 million euros, which belongs to Alexei Mordashov. His yacht M/Y Nord arrived in Hong Kong last week after leaving Russia. Naturally, Mordashov is not on board the yacht, he simply decided to shelter her from sanctions “in a safe haven”. The billionaire was subject to personal sanctions by the US, Britain and the EU.
The Hong Kong government has stated that it no way not bound by these sanctions. For almost a week, the 141-meter (464 ft) M/Y Nord has been in Victoria Harbor with the Russian flag on the mast.
The head of the administration of Hong Kong - John Lee - said that Hong Kong is ready to join the UN sanctions. At the same time, Li refused to join "unilateral sanctions or sanctions imposed by individual jurisdictions." but not "unilateral" sanctions imposed by "separate jurisdictions". Li also added, "We will abide by UN sanctions, this is our system, this is our rule of law."
Mordashov was the richest man in Russia before the invasion of Ukraine. His fortune was estimated at 29.1 billion dollars. Mordash put it together thanks to his steel and mining company Severstal.
Epiphany - a new concept from Steve Kozloff
Steve is famous for his extravagant concepts for yachts, catamarans and trimarans. The new concept is a sailing trimaran. A feature of the trimaran Epiphany will be folding masts.
The trimaran has two masts that can be fully rotated around their axis and lowered if you need to pass under the bridge. Epiphany will be 178 feet (54 meters) long. It will be the latest model in Kozloff's Goliath series. Recall that the feature of the series is precisely the descending masts or other moving elements.
The Epiphany has a stylish line with three sleek steel bodies. The superstructure must be made of aluminium. Living cabins are neatly arranged along the hulls on three decks. The master cabin will be about 65 square meters and is located in the bow of the central hull.
A spacious salon and a chic piano bar are located on the upper deck. There will be a swimming pool on the aft deck. There will also be a retractable bathing platform at the stern. Its peculiarity is that it will unite all three buildings.
On such a trimaran, nowhere without toys. Full-width garage can accommodate tender, Icon A5 small seaplane and submarine Nemo U-Boat Worx. Each mast will have a telescopic crane. With it, you can lower all the toys into the water. Under sail, Epiphany should reach speeds of up to eight knots. Under the engine (ICE), the trimaran can move at a speed of 10 knots.
