Wally presented renderings of two new models - wallywind130 and wallywind150. The models are distinguished by racing potential and the use of composite carbon fiber.
Creating wallywind130 and wallywind150
Both models of yachts are being developed by a team of designers and architects led by Luca Bassani. Wally is partnering with the architectural firm Judel+vrolijk & co to improve driving performance, as well as the design studio Santa Maria Magnolfi.
Wally is part of the Ferretti Group. Founded in 1994 in Monaco by Luca Bassani, it is the only yacht brand to have twice won the ADI Compasso d'Oro, the world's most important quality and design award.
Both wallywind130 and wallywind150 embody the “values” that Wally focuses on. Both yachts have racing potential and their hulls are constructed from carbon fiber composite.
The elegant lines of the hull are pleasing to the eye, but at the same time should provide good aerodynamics. There are no obstructions or excess protrusions on the tank that could meet your toes. The glass lid of the cockpit is so smooth and low profile that it does not interfere with the overall style of the yacht.
Luca Bassani, founder and chief designer of Wally, says: “The wallywind150 is a natural evolution of the Wally144 Kauris IV launched in 2020. It includes some of Wally's iconic features. Among them are a cockpit protected by high bulwarks, a transom with direct access to the water and a raised saloon.
The raised cabin also has several functions. When you use it for its intended purpose, it is a classic guest tank area. But when there are no guests, this compartment can be used as a tender garage. We also tried to make the cockpit as big as possible. Overall, the new layout, both on deck and below deck, was created with flexibility in mind.”
Interesting deck solutions
The bulwarks are designed to hide as much of the saloon as possible without spoiling the elegance of the yacht's lines. Thanks to this, it was possible to create a large and comfortable salon, which “flows smoothly” into the cockpit as much as possible.
Three so-called. social areas occupy almost a third of the length of the yacht. This creates an entertainment space that is unparalleled on yachts of this size.
The yacht has two helms. Due to the fact that in many respects the management of the yacht relies on automation and electrified controls, you will also have to work with your hands. We must pay tribute to Wally - there are practically no winches or ends. We will wait for the official photos of the finished case to be convinced of this.
Hidden under the tank is the previously mentioned tender compartment. The compartment was distinguished by its impressive dimensions (4.50 m - 14′ 9 "- on wallywind130; 5.00+ m - 16′ 4" - on wallywind150). The designers did a great job, as the compartment is completely hidden from view.
Case features
As mentioned above, composite carbon fiber was used in the construction of both models. Thanks to this, it was possible to achieve high rigidity and strength of the hull. Such hulls are light, relatively easy to accelerate to high speeds, and are famous for their good “responsiveness” to steering inputs.
What's more, Wally has applied full vacuum laminating technology with prepreg at 85°C. With its help, it was possible to achieve perfect lamination of the body and the lowest possible weight.
Both models also have a lifting keel. This will allow yachts to transition from conventional “racing” mode to cruising or shallow water cruising. Variable pitch propeller is also available. Thanks to it, it is possible to provide optimal traction during work. Under sail, this propeller folds up and creates little to no additional drag.
Central to both the overall layout and the deck layout is Wally's “two-deck” system. This is how we managed to place key seating areas under an impressive roof without spreading them all over the deck.
The roof is an impressive structure that combines carbon fiber stiffeners with huge curved glass. The result is a panorama that covers the entire horizon, plus sails overhead.
Yacht interiors
Below deck, both wallywind130 and wallywind150 offer comfortable seating for eight people on the wallywind130 and up to 10 on the wallywind150. On a 130-foot yacht, the owner can choose to have the master stateroom located forward or aft. If the choice falls on the stern, then there, due to the large width, you can equip a huge bathroom for two and a large room with a TV.
On wallywind150, in any layout option, the master cabin is always located aft. The master stateroom is more like the master stateroom of some 200+ foot superyacht.
More details about the interior of the yacht were not disclosed.
