The shipyard Baltic Yachts has launched its 33.5-meter sailing yacht Zemi. The first interesting details about the boat from Interparus!
Baptism Baltic 110 Custom and name Zemi
The ceremony of launching a new sailing boat from the shipyard Baltic Yachts took place the other day. The new Baltic 110 Custom passed the rite and received the name Zemi. The name itself refers to an ancient Caribbean deity. The ceremony was also attended by the owners of the yacht. All the action took place at the Baltic Yachts shipyard in Jakobstad.
At this stage, the mast has not yet been installed on the yacht, but this will be fixed in the near future. Now the bronze-colored hull is completely ready for installation of spars, rigging and various additional equipment.
Construction of Zemi began last year. The owners of the yacht are a family with extensive experience in traveling around the world. The Baltic 110 Custom was designed by designer and architect Malcolm McKennon.
Interesting features of Zemi
Among the interesting distinguishing features of the new boat is the cockpit. It can be relatively easily transformed into a large sunbathing area. The optional sprayhood provides safety and splash protection. There is also a removable bimini.
On a yacht of this size (33.5 meters), it would be bad manners not to make a large bathing platform. The transom is hinged and there is a compartment for the tender behind the bathing platform.
Zemi will also have several options for a straight top mainsail (J1 and J2), a storm staysail, code 0. A lifting centerboard with a 28-ton bulb will be hidden under the water. An electric power plant from Baltic will be installed on board, and in addition, power generators will be installed.
Interior design and going to sea soon
The interior design was done by Andreas Martin-Löf. For the designer, this was the first yacht project. Walnut veneer was chosen as the main interior finishing material. The interior is characterized by soft colors and a calm atmosphere.
After launching at Jakobstad, Zemi will be finally delivered in July 2023. Then the plans include a trip around Foggy Albion, followed by a voyage to the Caribbean. There Baltic 110 Custom will take part in the St Barths Bucket 2024 regatta.
