The Elan E6 yacht is the flagship model of a new line of yachts from the Slovenian shipyard. This is a sailing yacht that should conquer the market. Review from Interparus.
Creation of Elan E6
The new Elan E6, to be honest, looks like a real weapon. Clear, precise lines of the hull, decent running characteristics... It seems that this particular model was chosen as the flagship for a reason.
Elan has partnered with three key companies to ensure that the new flagship of its lineup has the best possible performance. The shipyard wanted to make the E6 the fastest yet reliable production cruiser.
To achieve this ambitious goal, lead designer Rob Humphreys from the Slovenian shipyard Humphreys Yacht Design used CFD modeling technology to analyze various shapes. This led to the creation of a light hull with a minimum wetted surface when heeling, and a fairly large T-shaped keel.
Elan E6 features
The manufacturer also consulted with leading manufacturers of composite materials Gurit. The shipyard wanted to reduce weight and optimize the mechanical properties of the hull.
To create the E6's interior and exterior aesthetics, Elan turned to Italian automotive designer Pininfarina. Pininfarina has worked with models such as Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Maserati in the past and has received a lot of recognition.
While Elan's GT lineup focuses more on luxury and comfort, the emphasis here is on performance. Because of this, the overall style of the yacht turned out to be quite minimalistic. Compare the video presentation of Elan E6 (just above) and Elan GT6 (just below). Even in the representation of the boats you will see quite a big difference.
If the E6 has a more cheerful, sporty tone of the presentation video, then the GT6 has a more serious, but at the same time measured.
Sailing yacht layout
The Elan E6 has been designed to be operated by an active crew using three sets of winches and a boom-sheet carriage fitted into the cockpit sole. In addition, there are additional folding tables in the cockpit, and in case your supplies are short of space, there are special aft lockers.
Below deck are three or four (depending on configuration) cabins with two bathrooms. The cabins are finished in natural oak.
