In 2006 Jean-François Lilty made a sailing trip in the north of Norway. On board his monohull yacht, he spent 18 months at sea. During this time, the yachtsman was able to appreciate and feel the peculiarities of navigation in Norway in different seasons of the year.

Three years later, in February 2009, he repeated his journey, albeit on a different boat. This time on a catamaran Marquises 56 from Fountaine pajot.

Jean-Francois Lilty went out of town Kahn, which is located in the north of France in Lower Normandy and went to the north of Norway, the city Bodo... To the surprise of the French yachtsman, sailing on the catamaran took place at a more lively and pleasant pace. The whole journey was perceived somehow differently.
In the North Sea catamaran Beluga goes very fast, sometimes too fast. In four days, the yacht reaches the Norwegian coast. The boat is breaking its speed record. 23 knots of yacht speed with 45 knots of wind speed blowing into the stern of the yacht.

After Haugesund, the first Norwegian stop, for an exciting sailing in the Norwegian fjords. I must say that almost everyone in Norway has their own boat. Anything, but yachtsmen, climbers and skiers in Norway more than enough.
Both in winter and in summer in Norway it is very beautiful, but it is better to discover this wonderful country for yourself all the same in the summer. It is very cold in winter, and a 5000W heater is not capable of normally heating a 17m yacht when the temperature is “-10”. The only salvation, in this case, is rum. But since it is cold all the time, you have to drink it often, practically in basins, and even so it does not take long to sleep.

After winter travels in the pristine waters of Norway, Jean-Francois strongly advises to choose all the same June and July for swimming. But, of course, the most courageous yachtsmen and those who are not a hindrance to the cold will like winter Norway, as it has its own charm and charm. Just remember that in the winter in this area there are strong, simply piercing winds reaching 55 knots, although they are always warned about them in advance on the basis of weather reports.
And also, while sailing in the waters of Norway, you just have to enjoy fishing, as the fish is excellent here: cod, haddock, salmon, trout. And you can learn special fishing techniques from local residents. And, if a Norwegian boat is anchored next to you, they will gladly teach you all the intricacies and wisdom of local fishing.
