A new ambitious project from the Dynamic Supercats shipyard - Project Garfield sailing catamaran! Construction of the first building will begin very soon. Details from Interparus!
Requirements for Project Garfield
The order for the yacht was issued by experienced yachtsmen (names not disclosed). They want to upgrade their existing 25m boat. Project Garfield will be the largest project not only for the Dynamic Supercats shipyard, but also for future owners.

Naturally, the owners already had an indicative concept of what kind of boat they wanted to get. At this stage, the main requirements are a shallow draft, high sides and spacious open deck spaces. The owners turned to Cantu Design and DFD Design to develop the concept, as they did not find a worthwhile (in their opinion) offer on the market.

The client representative says: “We struggled to find something… Something that could satisfy all the requirements and requests of the client. It was very important to achieve the features that the owner would like to see and have on board. After the search was unsuccessful, we turned to shipbuilding and design companies. We have now received a concept and specification that we are completely satisfied with.”
Features of the catamaran Project Garfield
The connection of the interior and exterior to the water has been the cornerstone of the catamaran's design. This connection was achieved through the use of large floor-to-ceiling windows and a large stern resting platform. This platform can be lowered to the water and create a real beach club across the entire width of the yacht. At the same time, you can get to the impromptu beach club directly from the aft cabins.

John Cantu of Cantu Design says: “We tried to create a so-called. "timeless" exterior design. This design implies smooth curves and large open spaces. This is especially evident on decks and recreation areas.
Up to 12 guests can be accommodated on board. The main salon, cockpit and beach platform will help to ensure a relaxed atmosphere and interaction between all crew members and guests. At the request of the owners, the galley, for example, is located closer to the main saloon.

In addition to advanced social interaction, Project Garfield can offer a large bow deck with in-depth seating areas. There is also a sheltered flybridge and sun loungers on the aft deck.
Technical question
As for the speed of Project Garfield, the catamaran will be able to reach a maximum speed of 14 knots. The owners also ordered this catamaran with an eye on long sea and ocean crossings. The shipyard claims that Project Garfield will be able to make a trans-Pacific (!) transition with ease.

This will be possible thanks to the powerful diesel-electric power plant that the catamaran carries on board. This installation is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional internal combustion engines. It will be able to provide a reduced noise level both in the marina in the parking lot and while driving.

Other technical features include retractable centreboards, a large center board and high transverse clearance. Project Garfield was in development for three years. The active phase of construction will begin in December. According to preliminary estimates, the production period will be 24 months.
