Let's digress a little from the exhibition in Düsseldorf and turn our eyes towards crazy concepts. Plectrum from Lazzarini on hydrofoils is next!
Plectrum - beautiful madness
Lazzarini continues to amaze not only the sophisticated public (sailors, yachtsmen), but also ordinary people for several years. This time the company decided to rethink hydrofoil boats. Although the technology is over a century old, Lazzarini will still add a pair of wheels to this bike.
So what are we waiting for? The Plectrum concept is a hydrofoil powered superyacht. Of the features, in addition to dimensions (73 meters) and wings, there is also speed.
Lazzarini claims that their superyacht will be able to reach speeds of up to 75 knots. This will be facilitated by three huge engines that run on hydrogen. The power of each of them will be 5000 hp.
Appearance
Hydrofoil technology appeared at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, this technology is no less popular than then. Wings are used in the construction of boats of various sizes, they also received their development in surfing.
Foilers (hydrofoils) have become an integral part of sailing. Among the most popular representatives of foilers are the America's Cup boats, and specifically the AC75.
Plectrum borrowed some of the design from this boat model. Smooth lines that improve aerodynamics, elongated hull. The hydrofoils of the superyacht will “lift” it above the surface of the water to improve the smoothness of the ride and reduce water resistance.
A spokesman for Studio Lazzarini says: “We like to think that back in 1964, shipbuilding was already capable of building such vessels and boats. Yes, our concept is a different configuration, but it is this configuration that will allow you to travel faster and more reliably than conventional pleasure craft and boats of a similar size.”
It is interesting, by the way, that the first hydrofoil in America was launched in 1965!
Materials and interior Plectrum
The main hull material of the new superyacht is lightweight carbon and composite materials. The plectrum should be a bright orange color. There are no details or renderings of the interior of the yacht, but a couple of details were still found.
Inside, living quarters will be arranged over four decks. There will be six guest cabins and a master cabin in total. There will be a full-fledged helipad on the bow outside, and a large beach club with a swimming pool on the stern. There is also a garage for tenders. Closer to the stern is a separate garage, but for a car and water toys.
At this stage Plectrum is still an interesting dream and concept. But Lazzarini Design claims that this project, unlike other studio projects, is much more likely to be realized. To create this boat, 87 million dollars are needed - this amount is discussed in the Lazzarini report.
Let's see, maybe there is such a madman. In the meantime, don't forget to rate the content! You can find other interesting news at the links below or in the “News” section!
