A small marina worth € 500,000 will be built in Klaksvuik, the second largest city in the Faroe Islands. The project is owned by Vileo Marinas from Finland, who signed an agreement with the city.

With a population of about 4,600, Klaksvuik is located on the island of Boroy and is an important port city that serves as a base for fishing and tourism. The new yacht marina will expand the city's status as a tourist destination.
Klaksvuik yacht marina designed by an international architectural firm Henning Larsen Architects, and will include 131 yacht berths, which will be located on five berths, built from massive concrete elements.

“The Faroe Islands have an exceptional climate and this makes the marina project extremely challenging. Hurricane winds are often seen on the islands, and sometimes boats have to take to land during storms, ”says Mikael Hindsberg, general manager Vileo Marinas.
A special feature of the project is that the facility is located approximately 300 km north of Scotland, and it will have to withstand the harsh weather conditions of the North Atlantic location. Fixed port structures need to be super strong, as violent storms are common in the Faroe Islands.
