The Mercury Racing V8 500R is one of the most powerful outboards on the market. Interparus is in a hurry to share the first details about the new engine
Anniversary Mercury Racing and new engine
Mercury, as well as its Mercury Racing division, has been delighting us with more and more new outboard engines for yachts for several years. The Mercury Racing division recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The release of the new, most powerful engine in the line was timed to coincide with this remarkable event. The Mercury Racing V8 500R arrived just a couple of months after the launch of the entry-level 400R, but the difference from its predecessor in the 500 is more than striking.

By itself, the Mercury Racing V8 500R is a focus of innovation that is primarily aimed at increasing power and improving the reliability of the device. Now the new engine also has a three-year factory warranty.
Specifications Mercury Racing V8 500R
The basis for the new engine was the 450R model. The company has made a number of not only cosmetic, but also engineering improvements. So, the new version at peak loads is capable of delivering more than 500 hp. The weight of the Mercury Racing V8 500R is 720 pounds (326 kg).

Of the interesting chips - humidity compensation technology. Thanks to a special sensor, the engine system independently determines the ideal moment for ignition. The sensor takes into account humidity, pressure and air temperature in real time.
The Mercury Racing V8 500R also features another interesting technology called the Advanced Racing Core. Thanks to this technology, the engine should last longer by analyzing its activity and adjusting the loads.

The supercharger has also been redesigned - as a result, the pressure inside the engine has been increased by 26%. The connecting rods, connecting rod bearings and pistons have been reinforced to improve wear resistance. As a result, the engine is able to withstand increased pressure during fuel combustion and has a higher rev limit (6600 rpm).
Future Mercury 500R
The premiere of the new engine took place just last week, but some reviewers have already managed to try out the brainchild of Mercury. In early testing, reviewers and journalists commented that the new Mercury 500Rs are "first-class engines with outstanding driving performance." According to journalists, Mercury 500R provide comfort and reliability while sailing.

Another point is also that the R in the name absolutely does not mean that these are racing-only engines. Despite the fact that the new engines are really powerful, but they are designed for the masses.
So far, the first deliveries are only expected.
