Have you limited yourself to a week charter in the Mediterranean so far? We have some great ideas for your next cruise!
Long cruise - get to know your yacht and yourself better
By long cruise we mean a two or more week stay on board. This, in truth, is not the most trivial task, but we assure you that such an experience is really worth it.
Yes, in the case of a charter it will cost more, but the experience will pay off any costs in full. Without a rigid time frame of a week, you will feel real freedom without the need to constantly plan each day.
Climb the mast
Naturally, without any important technical reasons, they usually do not climb the mast. But as an extreme entertainment, some yachtsmen still climb to the highest point of the boat.
In the end, if you have the opportunity to safely (with all the necessary equipment) climb the mast, then be sure to take a selfie as a keepsake - there is definitely no such photo among your friends on land. Well, in principle, the view from the top of the mast is excellent.
The North is waiting!
Is the Mediterranean the only region where you have sailed? It's time to correct this annoying oversight. If the Mediterranean is already something familiar to you, then it is worth expanding the geography of your travels, for example, by the Baltic Sea. This is not an easy region, but definitely worth it!
If the Baltic is already native to you, then it's time to send it north - probably even beyond the Arctic Circle! In any case, our home planet is big enough for you to discover something new every time you go out to sea.
At the end of the night...
Going somewhere at night under sail is a truly magical event. Of course, this is a test for oneself and the team, but the sensations and experience gained during such a night transition cannot be obtained at any other time of the day.
At night, everything is different - the perspective changes, the perception of space is distorted, navigation becomes more complicated. But it is precisely for this reason that many yachtsmen go on a night voyage by sea. By the way, we have an interesting article about the experience of night crossings from Pitt Goss.
In pursuit of victory
Whether you like competition or not, it doesn't matter at all! Participation in a sailing regatta is a unique experience that should be experienced at least once in your life. We are not talking about complex transatlantic regattas, no, no. We are talking about amateur regattas, the doors of which are open to yachtsmen of all levels.
By taking part in the regatta, you will feel and learn about new styles of swimming, feel the spirit of friendly rivalry and, of course, get some adrenaline. In addition, the experience of sailing in a regatta is similar to traveling north - it is unique and unlike anything else.
Upgrade your sails!
If you are a lover of sailing boats, then buying new sails is always an exciting and important moment. In addition, you can try sailing under a different set of sails - for example, switch from jib to genoa or spinnaker / gennaker (if the rigging of the boat allows).
Having tried different sails and ways of sailing under them, you can find a set of sails that is really versatile and comfortable for you. Who knows, maybe all these years under an automatic staysail and a mainsail with a classic top are just nothing compared to the new spinnaker and mainsail with a rectangular top?
