Larnaca's most interesting natural attraction is the Salt Lake, which is located 5 km from the city. The scientific explanation for this natural phenomenon is that salt water on its way from the sea to the lake passes through porous rocks, which makes it even more saline. In winter, pink flamingos live on the lake.
