Cosmonautics Day is a memorable date not only for space lovers. We, yachtsmen and sailors, are a lot like astronauts. They plow the expanses of endless cold space, and our patrimony is no less mysterious and mysterious sea. On the eve of such an important date, Interparus decided to recall how Gagarin's flight actually took place and why it raises questions no less than the landing of the Americans on the moon.
Questions, questions, questions...
Traditionally, any dispute about space programs sooner or later comes to the positions: “But the Americans weren’t on the moon, it’s all fake!” or “But how many people had to be killed in front of Gagarin for success to happen ?!”
Well, the soil is really fertile, speculation and fakes can be found abound. Against the backdrop of recent events, we (and the entire civilized part of the planet) could observe the result of the work of the propaganda machine - the approval of the war, the approval of the genocide among the most diverse representatives of Russian society.
It became interesting to us - how deeply did this kind of propaganda affect the phenomenon of Cosmonautics Day? Well, the results of the shock did not cause, but at least made me think.
Where did you land?
On the "Gagarin field", of course! Where else? There was a tradition in the USSR to mark iconic places - the creation of a minimum of a monument, a maximum of an architectural ensemble. And what a beautiful story: a Soviet cosmonaut, the first man in space, had just left orbit and ended up in a picturesque Soviet village, where he was already joyfully greeted by collective farmers with a bottle of milk and fellow soldiers ...
The landing site is well known - a field near the village of Smelovka, the same “Gagarinskoye”. There, according to legend, they met the hero. Everything would be fine, but this is the very fake that the “quilted jackets” love to operate on. In fact, the story is a little more complicated.
Due to a number of problems with the brake propulsion system (by the way, problems with the equipment are present almost everywhere in the landmark historical events of the USSR), the landing was made in a different place, unplanned from the very beginning. The estimated landing site remained 600 km from the original calculations.
Problems with the braking system affected all stages of landing - the ship rotated from side to side, Gagarin experienced an overload of 8-9 g. As a result, Yuri did not land near the village of Smelovka. Many still do not know that the Soviet cosmonaut landed near another settlement - Podgornoye.
The reason why the actual landing site was hidden is rather complicated. Firstly, near Podgorny there was a secret military unit numbered 40218. Secondly, putting up a memorial that would draw attention to a secret object of a crowd of people, among whom there may be spies, is more expensive for yourself. And thirdly, a scenario in which the landing was planned in this place from the very beginning is quite probable.
No one, of course, forced the USSR to declassify the location of the base, but this kind of speculation makes one wonder if Gagarin actually landed in the third place at all? And why was the memorial erected at all near Smelovka, if Podgorny and the base itself are within easy reach.
Another fun moment. Filming with the military and the villagers is also a production. The regime needed a beautiful picture of the meeting of the national hero. After Gagarin landed safely at Podgorny, he, with a whole detachment of journalists and extras, moved towards Smelovka, where the legendary pictures were taken.
Records?
In the official propaganda program, the authorities tried to convince people of the exclusivity of Gagarin's flight - and it's not even about the superiority of the Soviet pilot in space.
From Gagarin they sculpted a hero who would go into fire, and into water, and into a burning hut. Yuri himself was happy to support this myth - during numerous interviews and press conferences right and left he talked about his records.
So, what exactly is the point? The fact is that the Soviet Vostok-1 apparatus did not provide for a landing with a crew on board. That is, in any case, Gagarin had to eject in order to survive. Remember this moment, it will play a key role
This happened. At an altitude of 7 kilometers, Gagarin took a step into the abyss (author's note - catapulted). After that, according to the original plan, the ship and the astronaut traveled to Earth separately - both by parachute. At an altitude of 3 kilometers, Yuri's parachute opened and after that he was able to fully complete the landing.
Among other things, records were “recorded” for flight altitude (327.7 km), a maximum load record (4725 kg), a flight duration record in space (108 minutes), and radio communications records (as many as two).
The problems began on July 18, 1961. In Paris, on the fact of such a landmark event, a regular meeting of the International Aeronautical Federation (FAI) was held. It is this organization that records and confirms all kinds of records in the aerospace sector.
According to the strict rules of the federation, all records for fair fixing and confirmation must take place in regulated conditions with the presence of observers. Moreover, according to all the same rules, de facto this flight could not be considered a flight into space at all - the pilot must land on board his ship under the supervision of the sports commissioner.
However, for some reason, the chief commissioner allowed himself to take such responsibility and award all these records in absentia. Not even being close to the landing site and not controlling anything. The commissariat had a question - how exactly did Gagarin land? In the cockpit or on a parachute? Guess from three times what was the answer of the Soviet delegation.
After a six-hour debate, the French commissars surrendered under pressure from the Soviet representatives. And this despite the fact that the Soviet side did not have documents or evidence of Gagarin's landing in the cockpit.
So it's hard to talk about records here. Especially about the supposedly “record parachute jump”. The jump took place, but it was neither record-breaking nor historical. What is there to talk about if this jump to fix the space flight should not have happened at all?
The most surprising thing is that later all this was declassified by the Soviet authorities themselves. They deliberately created a myth in order to get some imaginary records, polished it with propaganda, and then told the world the truth. Do you still not believe in Americans on the moon?
Waiting for a selfie from space!
The most interesting part. No, seriously, what evidence was provided to ordinary people, the proletariat and the same International Aeronautical Federation? Understand correctly - none of the high-ranking officials of the USSR, the USA and other countries doubted the veracity of the flight. The US knew this through secret surveillance sites in Alaska and Hawaii. And it seems to us that the “damned Americans” watched the flight much more closely than many might think.
These secret systems even intercepted a video showing Gagarin in the cockpit. At the same time, we get an absurd situation - video communication has been established. Where is the photo? Yes, there is a photo where Gagarin sits in the still unlaunched Vostok-1 and training footage. But somewhere the photos of the most historical trip were lost. In 1961, you could take a small camera, technological possibilities already had it.
And this is surprising - the photo can be declassified over time, to provide descendants with real evidence. The power of the Soviets decided to neglect this. Moreover, they gave out candid shooting for real footage of what is happening. Part of the video, which captures Gagarin during the flight, is high-quality additional filming, which is difficult to distinguish from reality.
Do you want the most absurd and funny moment of this story, which echoes the flight of the Americans to the moon? We open the curtain of secrecy for all fans of the "Lunar Conspiracy" and those who do not believe that Gagarin did fly - additional filming is a NORMAL practice.
Don't believe? As many as two great cosmonauts - Georgy Grechko and Alexei Leonov - have said more than once that additional shooting is a completely ordinary situation. Especially regarding such historical moments as a man's spacewalk or a visit to the moon.
There is only one moment here. Additional shooting is a normal practice when there is real, “raw” material. You can add finished and unmounted fragments to it. And when almost all the data that is provided to the public is additional filming ... It seems to us that comments are unnecessary.
Fake culture
Gagarin was in space, and the Americans were on the moon. Leonov went into outer space, and Jim Voss and Susan Helms spent almost 9 hours in outer space, carrying out maintenance work on the ISS. All of these are facts, all of this is a given. But precisely because of the concealment of details, the juggling of facts, the lack of a sufficient amount of photo and video materials ... It is precisely because of this that fakes and distrust of the records of people in space are born.
Alas, the fake factory worked great in the USSR. Moreover, this culture of producing information “convenient” for the regime remains to this day. On the example of Gagarin's historical flight, it is easy to check how propaganda works. Agree that "the first man in space" does not sound as impressive as "the first man in space to set 100,500 records."
Exactly the same thing is happening now. The zombification of the population continues successfully. We think that in a couple of years we will hear about the fact that the Russian Federation has set another record, which has not even been heard of on the planet ...
Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin died on March 27, 1968. It is a well-known fact that he died during a training flight. The history of the first man in space ended abruptly and tragically. The details are still not clear - the regime, as usual, presents the official version, which, although it has common motives with reality, the truth is hidden under a ton of classified documents.
Personally, we have only one question left. Is there anything real in this story?
