Not so long ago, the famous Russian frigate Shtandart appeared in the port of La Rochelle. Many have a question: “What did the ship under the Russian flag forget in Europe?” This question also came up with us.
The beginning of the war and a little about history
For those who are not in the subject, we will briefly talk about this frigate. In fact, the Shtandart frigate is a working copy of the Russian historical Shtandart frigate from the time of Peter the Great, built by the non-governmental non-profit organization Project Shtandart. For the last 20 years, it has been actively used as a pleasure boat for tourists and those who want to “feel” the era of sailing ships.

The frigate quite calmly continued to plow the seas and carry the flag of the Russian world. But the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine changed plans a little. When the first cannonade of artillery shelling of peaceful cities died down, many lovers of Russia abroad realized that there would be no turning back. And now they have exactly two options.
First: return home. To return to that very dear Motherland, about which they spoke with such love with their compatriots and sympathizers far from home. Alas, the sanctions and the new iron curtain created a very bleak outlook for them.

The second option is to mimic. Adjust to the new reality, the new normal. Now it's embarrassing to openly say that you are Russian. And they're trying to fit in. Show yourself to be a good Russian. It was this path that the crew of the Shtandart frigate chose. It's good that the captain managed to write on social networks much more than was necessary.
Crew problems and “everything is not so simple”
The captain of the ship, Vladimir Martus, had the imprudence on February 25, 2022 (the second day of the war) to share the opinion that “the war in Ukraine is planned by America against Russia.” And in general, guys, this is not a war. A special military operation. And everyone has their own world. And opinion too.
Alas, there are no more gray areas since February 24th. The captain realized this too late. He understood this when news began to be heard about the atrocities of the Russian army against the civilian population. And when it dawned on a person that the imposed sanctions would not allow Shtandart to moor in any port in Europe, a change in rhetoric began. Suddenly, some "Ukrainian" appeared among the crew members, and "peace to the world", and "we are against war."

After the act of changing shoes was successfully carried out and the crew slightly cleared not only their reputation, but also the reputation of a dilapidated wooden vessel, attempts began to ride out on a hype. The flag of Ukraine on the flagpole came from somewhere. And from somewhere a certain “humanitarian mission” appeared to help Ukrainians who fled the war.
To do this, the team decided to organize some kind of fundraising. Apparently charity. And this imaginary concern for the Ukrainians affected by the war helped attract the attention of the European public. The captain even published an article in the local newspaper stating that, in general, Shtandart is “an anti-Putin story and an anti-Putin ship.” Let's answer with the title of another article by our French colleague: "Sorry, Captain Martus, but Shtandart is not anti-Putin."

The Shtandart team is trying to deftly penetrate the network of humanitarian aid to Ukrainians. What for? And here is a whole bunch of reasons. Quiet, practical, unnoticed subversive activities, attempts to tolerate allegedly “good Russians”, as well as attempts to avoid being included in the sanctions lists or being removed from the lists. What…
It's time to send the Shtandart after the Russian warship
Needless to say, how harmful, dangerous and insidious Russian influence cells in humanitarian aid networks are? We think the answer is obvious. The Shtandart frigate and its crew are representatives of the Russian world.
A world that brought pain, destruction and loss. The entire Shtandart project today is yet another puppet, designed to appeal to tolerance towards the Russians. Don't believe it. The Shtandart frigate is still the same Russian warship. Thanks to the heroes from Serpentine, we all know where to send him.
This does not mean that Russians must be eradicated all over the world - this will mean that the rest of the world is no better than the Russian army. This means that now you need to be more careful, prudent and wise. We are most surprised by something else.

Russians are well known for their ardent love for their Motherland. Especially to all possible "returns to the native harbor." Perhaps Shtandart spent a little time at a party? Shouldn't we return to our native St. Petersburg harbor?
