Universal electric motor for all types of boats? Sounds interesting. ePropulsion surprises us again with its products. Interparus decided to figure out what kind of H-100 it is and what it is eaten with.
ePropulsion Ambitions
Hong Kong-based ePropulsion manufactures electric outboards in all shapes and sizes. Now the company has decided to expand its production capacity and enter a new market niche. Most recently, ePropulsion unveiled its first inboard engine.

The H-100 is a 100 kW motor designed for boats from 18 to 30 meters (60 to 100 feet) in length and up to 200 tons gross displacement. The peculiarity of this engine is that it is universal.
According to ePropulsion, the device is suitable for large sailing yachts, catamarans, small passenger ferries and pleasure craft, commercial work boats, small barges. The drive type doesn't matter either. The motor can be mounted on a boat with a saildrive or a propeller.
H-100 modular design and modes of operation
The modular design means that the motor can be easily integrated into any existing system. In addition, the skipper will be able to choose from a variety of work scenarios and fine-tune the engine to the needs of a particular yacht.

Among the most commonly used modes are "Docking" and "Syn". Docking mode allows you to program the throttle. So the boat will increase controllability at low speeds. "Syn" mode is available for twin-engine installations (catamarans) in order to synchronize the power supplied to both engines.
Characteristics of the H-100
H-100 can reach the maximum torque of 2000Nm. The motor delivers impressive efficiency in the 96%. This figure is higher than the traditional 100kW AC induction motor.
The H-100 is light and compact. With a weight of only 190 kg and a footprint of 443 mm x 315 mm. The H-100 is two-thirds lighter and 50% smaller than its diesel counterpart for installation flexibility.
ePropulsion claims the H-100 will be suitable for a variety of industries. Cargo transportation, civil fleet and sailing - the list is not limited to this.
Torque (max) | 2000 Nm |
Weight | 190 kg |
Dimensions | 443mm x 315mm |
efficiency | ~ 96% |
The engine will make its world debut at the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo on June 21-23 this year.
