Sports sailing yacht ClubSwan 80 named My Song was launched recently. Why is this yacht so interesting and what features does it have? Learn from this article
New Maxi Yacht ClubSwan 80
Sailing yacht ClubSwan 80, named My Song, is the fifth yacht commissioned by yachtsman Pier Luigi Loro Piana. She was launched and handed over to the owner in the summer, but we learned the most interesting things only after the Maxi Worlds regatta. Let's share it!
The ClubSwan 80 was created by Nautor's Swan in collaboration with Persico Marine. Persico Marine specializes in composite materials and racing yachts. Nautor's Swan was the main inspiration for the design and architecture.

Nautor Swan designer Juan Kuyumjian is the author of the My Song project. The interior was designed by Nauta Design. Most of the work was done by Persico Marine.
Giovanni Pomati, CEO of the Nautor Group, says of the boat: “The launch of the ClubSwan 80 opens a new chapter in the history of maxi yachts. Purebred, if I may say so, “racer”, on which you can enjoy a sports cruise - all this is about My Song. In general, the project is very innovative.”
Features ClubSwan 80
As planned by the shipyard, the yacht was supposed to be light and have a small draft. Yet the architects of My Song installed a 4.75-meter inclined keel. The initiator of this decision was a team of racers led by Pier Luigi Loro Piana.

In addition, the ClubSwan 80 is equipped with a retractable bowsprit on which a spinnaker can be hoisted, as well as a double rudder. Marcello Persico, CEO of Persico Marine, says: "This yacht is built to the same standards we use for America's Cup and IMOCA 60 yachts competing in the toughest ocean races such as The Ocean Race and Vendée Globe."
The shipyard also chose an unusual role for the ClubSwan 80 model. The 80th model closes the gap between three other popular models - ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 36 and ClubSwan 125. Indeed, there was some kind of “understatement” in the lineup.
Yacht interior
And here is an interesting point. The ClubSwan 80 has a purely minimalist interior design. Naturally, compared to conventional cruising yachts and even maxi yachts.
The interior decoration (if you can call it decoration) uses carbon fiber, warm mahogany and good lighting. Most interior items are purpose-built to be lightweight and modular. They can be easily and unpretentiously disconnected. It's funny that you can detach almost everything.

A stove for cooking, tables in the cabin, toilets from all three bathrooms - you can really take almost everything out of the boat. But, alas, not really. The benches in the cabin are still built in thoroughly, as they are part of the supporting structure of the boat. Also, these benches serve as resting places for watchmen during the race. By the way, even the air conditioning system is removable.
The boat made its world debut at the Maxi Worlds regatta in early September, in Sardinia. We look forward to sporting heights and new achievements from the new boat.
