BayCruiser 32: an unusual little cruiser

A new small yacht for small cruises is about to be presented - BayCruiser 32 under the scrutiny of Interparus!

BayCruiser 32 - new boat from Swallow Yachts

The Welsh shipyard Swallow Yachts has gained popularity among yachtsmen due to its small so-called. “trailer” yachts (yachts that can be transported on a car trailer), as well as day-sellers. One of the main lines of the shipyard is named BayCruiser and most recently it received an update.

At the moment, BayCruiser 32 does not have a presentation video or even its own page on the shipyard's website. To roughly understand what kind of boat it will be, the video (below) from Boot Dusseldorf 2020 with a demonstration of the junior model BayCruiser 23 will help.

According to the shipyard, the BayCruiser 32 will be available for testing by next summer. In the meantime, let's look at the technical characteristics and features of the boat.

BayCruiser 32 features

The BayCruiser 32 will be fitted with a carbon fiber mast, boom and spreaders. Swallow Yachts prefers to reduce the weight of its yachts in every possible way, with the BayCruiser line this is done through the use of carbon fiber in the mast.

In terms of sails, the 32 offers a total sail area of 46.5m2 (mainsail + asymmetric spinnaker as standard). The sail controls are placed in the cockpit and on the deckhouse roof. The staysail, by the way, is automatic. The bulwark along the entire length of the side provides additional security.

The BayCruiser is powered by a 25 HP Yamaha outboard motor. An electric motor can be optionally installed. The steering on board is implemented tiller. Also, on 32 models, a lifting daggerboard is installed. On the transom there is a small folding bathing platform.

Despite its modest dimensions, the BayCruiser has a fairly large cockpit. In addition, there is a full double cabin, saloon and galley on board. Naturally, the interior spaces cannot be compared with the same Dufour 32, but BayCruiser has other goals in mind.

According to insiders, the new yacht is aimed at yachtsmen who prefer one-day coastal or river cruises. It's definitely not an option for family cruises in the Mediterranean, but the BayCruiser 32 isn't trying to be anything more than that.
