Is this a boat? Or maybe an airplane? This is a real “soaring” catamaran! With a top speed of 70 mph, the new A2V speed catamaran literally lifts itself up on its hulls for more speed. Another innovative "funny"? No, it also saves fuel! Interparus could not pass by such an interesting model.
Catamaran aircraft and its features
This unusual catamaran was designed and built by Advanced Aerodynamic Vessels of La Rochelle. The secret to the performance of the 35ft A2V Monaco One catamaran lies in the wing-like shape of its cross-deck center section.
“Think of a boat as a Boeing wing. As air passes through the tunnel between the hulls, the lower part creates lift. The faster you go, the easier the boat moves through the water,” says CEO Lionel Hutz.

Hutz also adds: “It will carry up to 12 business class passengers between the two harbors in about 15 minutes. At the same time, it consumes significantly less fuel than a traditional high-speed ferry.”
References, driving performance and a little about the interior
The A2V looks like a scaled-down version of media mogul Elliot Carver's "stealth boat" from the 1997 James Bond movie. The streamlined shape of the A2V Monaco One is perfected. The catamaran is driven by two 350 hp. Yanmar turbodiesels. The propellers are integrated and due to this the draft is reduced.

The “feel” of a short cruise on the A2V Monaco One can be experienced at about 40 miles per hour. At the same time, you can feel the very “flight” at a cruising speed of 57 miles per hour. At full speed, the cat will reach speeds of 70 miles per hour.
According to Hutz, the boat's impressive speed doesn't come at the expense of a smooth ride. The boat has been tested in rough seas with 8 foot seas and 35 mph winds.

To make superyacht owners feel at home, the A2V saloon features large and comfortable leather seats with leather and teak trim. The full-width windshield provides a panoramic view while relaxing.
Future plans
A2V Monaco One is the second model for which a buyer was found. The first recently went to the elite city of Evian-les-Bains on Lake Geneva in Switzerland. There, she transports guests between Geneva and five-star hotels in the city.
Hutz said plans are underway to create a tender he calls the A2V Tender. The A2V Tender will be used as a high speed day-seller or as a comfortable boat for a week.

A2V Tender is planned to be equipped with two 300 hp. outboard motors, which will increase the space and lighten the boat. At the same time, outboard motors will be able to accelerate the boat to a maximum speed of 60 miles per hour. This more luxurious boat will cost around $1.5 million.
To maintain the tender's aerodynamic shape, the huge rear roof rises to reveal 500 square feet of deck space for sunbathing and entertaining. Instead of inside seating like on a ferry, there is a cabin with a bed, a galley and a shower.
